Dr. Erin Underbrink is now scheduling for her TOPS group, designed for middle or high schoolers with academic anxiety or academic difficulty. Kids with anxiety often struggle with everyday tasks that are important in school achievement, including time management, organization, planning ahead, effective studying, and maintaining attention. Dr. Underbrink uses an evidence-based approach to teach cognitive strategies and self-management skills that are essential for academic success. The overarching mission include progress toward academic goals while reducing anxiety about homework, tests and studying. Each session of the 8-part series contains a different skill with the overall goal of improving school related functioning.
Raising an anxious child can place a great deal of strain on parents. This group offers a combination of information and support to boost parents' capacity to cope with strong emotions at home, reduce anxiety accommodation, and clarify parenting values.
