Jacob Lebar is a predoctoral therapist with a specialization in young adult and family services. Jake earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with honors in 2008. After working in mediations and dispute resolution for several years, he returned to graduate work at the University of Houston, where he earned a Master of Arts in Psychology in 2017 and is currently finishing his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Jake completed his APA-accredited doctoral internship with Southern Illinois University’s student counseling center. During the internship he worked with young adults experiencing anxiety and depression, often with compounding issues, such as trauma, ADHD, chronic illness, gender dysphoria, and racial or ethnic discrimination. He completed graduate practica at the McLean OCD Institute, Houston (formerly Houston OCD Program) and Texas Children’s, The Center for Children and Women.
Jake specializes in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with adults, young adults, and teens. He is also experienced working with children, toddlers, and their parents, utilizing Brief Behavioral Intervention (BBI). Jake has worked in several different treatment settings, from a residential mental health treatment center to a primary care clinic with outpatient mental health services. Jake emphasizes working closely with families as mental health treatment greatly benefits from a team approach.
