Biography
Lauren Gentry, Ph.D. (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. Dr. Gentry earned her Master’s Degree from Columbia University, and her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. She then completed an internship at Saint John’s Health Center’s Child and Family Development Center in Santa Monica, CA, with a focus on community mental health services. She subsequently completed her post-doctoral training in an Austin-area school district.
Dr. Gentry’s approach to treatment is collaborative in nature. She views the therapeutic relationship as being foundational to the effectiveness of intervention. Dr. Gentry also recognizes the impact of context (family, school, community) on the lives of youth. As such, she seeks to collaborate with clients’ caregivers, educators, and other treatment providers, as is clinically warranted. Dr. Gentry has long been committed to providing youth with effective, evidence-based treatment across a wide variety of mental health needs. She is certified as a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist and is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Prior to joining Capital OCD & Anxiety Practice in 2021, she shifted her professional focus to treating OCD and anxiety disorders.
