Casandra Gomez Alvarado
Casandra (she, her, hers, ella) is a practicum extern, providing services at COAP under the supervision of Ginny Fullerton, Ph.D. Casandra is a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at The University of Texas at Austin. Casandra earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As an undergraduate, Casandra was a research assistant in Dr. Jennifer Silvers’ Social Affective Neuroscience and Development (SAND) Lab and Dr. Denise Chavira’s Culture and Anxiety Lab for Mental Health Advances (CALMA). She has also worked as a research coordinator in Dr. Anna Lau’s Culture and Race/Ethnicity (CARE) in Youth Mental Health Lab. Throughout her graduate training, Casandra has broadly emphasized studying risk and resilience, the relationship between physical and mental health, intervention development, and improving access to services for ethnic minority youth. Casandra is a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist and researcher, with experience investigating and providing evidence-based treatment in both English and Spanish. She is excited to work collaboratively with individuals and families to provide accessible and effective treatment.
